Commercial Manager - Student Union
Location: Leeds Approx. Salary: £30k + package
A new role as a Commercial Manager :
Responsible to – Chief Executive Responsible for – Bars Supervisor, Retail Co-ordinator, Marketing Co-ordinator.
Job Purpose – To be responsible for the strategic development and day to day operations of Bars, Catering, Retail, and marketing functions and to take a lead role in delivering effective building management controls and the necessary safety and compliance requirements.
Key Relationships – Union Finance and HR Function, LTSU Clubs and Societies, Leeds Trinity University, NUS, Other Leeds Student Unions
Main Duties - Income generation via a range of commercial activity which is designed to enhance the student experience at LTSU - Effective use of resources to develop a positive student experience and ensure that services are delivered in a cost-effective manner. - The budgeting and financial management of the commercial services and the achievement of agreed targets. - The development of insight to inform the development of the services at LTSU and to ensure student have a say in how services are delivered. - The marketing and promotion of the various services and the creation of a seasonal plan for event activity. - The development of an event programme to ensure the Union is positioned to offer a vibrant and exciting service. - To maximise student engagement via a range of employment, training, and collaborative working and to ensure students have a positive view of the LTSU brand. - The management of the relationship with key partners and with commercial colleagues withing the University and the fostering of collaborative work streams that generate a positive student experience. - To support student clubs and societies in the delivery of their activity Compliance - To ensure the Unions activities are complaint with the relevant Health and safety legislation - To ensure the Unions activities are complaint with the relevant food safety legislation - To ensure compliance with the requirements and principles of the licensing act 2003 - To comply with all Union policies and procedures - To implement and develop opportunities for equality and diversity within LTSU Personal Effectiveness - To take responsibility for personal development - To take steps to remain up to date with relevant developments in the commercial and student environment - To keep up to date with any changes to legislation or compliance that might affect the Union and its operational activity. - To develop networks that enable better communication and a wider range of shared information internally and externally to LTSU.
Other Activity - Contribute to the positive reputation of LTSU with its students, the University, and the local community - Work closely to form positive working relationships with colleagues in the Student Union and the University. - Play and active role in supporting the Chief Executive in other Union activity as required and where necessary deputise for the CEO in any absence.
