Venues General Manager - Student Union

WHAT’S THE JOB?
We are seeking an experienced individual with a positive “can do” attitude to take on the role of Venues General Manager, at the Union of Brunel Students. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the successful operations and professional service delivery of our bar, nightclub, live events, and catering services. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager will ensure that the Union's operations are delivered in a profitable, safe, and responsible manner. Key responsibilities will include compliance with all relevant legislation and licensing objectives, staff training and development, stock management, cost management, and the development of effective promotional and marketing activity.

WHO YOU ARE:
To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a management level post, with experience in controlling stock and labour costs. You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to lead a team including over 50 casual staff, providing strong training and development support. You should be a team player, have a strong process focus, and be able to demonstrate forward planning and problem-solving skills. It is essential that you have a creative and positive "can-do" attitude, and the ability to buy into the values of a student union. Additionally, you should possess a strong understanding of licensing objectives, food safety, and health and safety legislation. Qualifications such as a professional certification in the hospitality or retail sector, a personal license, and a food safety qualification to intermediate level will be an advantage.
